Whip up a quick and flavorful Ground Beef Rice Bowl featuring tender seasoned beef and fluffy long-grain rice, perfect for a satisfying weeknight meal.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup long-grain white rice
  • 2 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 4 green onions thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes optional

Equipment

  • medium saucepan
  • Large skillet
  • Wooden spoon

Method

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the rice and water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15 minutes, or until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed. Fluff the rice with a fork and set aside.
  2. While the rice is cooking, heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it into small pieces with a wooden spoon, until browned and fully cooked, about 8 minutes.
  3. Drain any excess fat from the skillet. Add the garlic, ginger, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using) to the beef. Cook for 1 minute, stirring frequently, until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the soy sauce and sesame oil, and cook for another 1-2 minutes until the beef is well-coated and the flavors are combined.
  5. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the cooked rice, mixing until evenly combined. Garnish with the sliced green onions and serve immediately.
