Frequently asked questions
Quick answers about finding, cooking and printing our recipes, and about how the site works.

Using the recipes
Are the recipes free?
Yes. Every recipe is free to read, print and cook. The site is supported by advertising, so there is no paywall and no subscription.
Do I need an account?
No. There is nothing to sign up for: no account, no login and no newsletter.
How do I make more or fewer servings?
Use the servings control above the ingredient list (the minus and plus buttons, or ½×, 1×, 2× and 3×). The amounts are recalculated for you; lines such as “salt, to taste” stay as they are. Cooking times and pan sizes do not change by themselves: a doubled casserole may need a larger dish and longer in the oven, so rely on the visual cues and temperatures in the method.
Can I see metric measurements?
Yes. Switch the ingredient list from US to Metric to see grams, milliliters and degrees Celsius. Conversions are rounded to amounts that are practical to measure.
How do I print a recipe?
Use the Print button at the top of the recipe. It prints only the recipe card: ingredients, numbered steps, times, servings and nutrition, without ads or menus.
What does Cook mode do?
Cook mode keeps your screen from dimming or locking while you cook, so you do not have to touch it with floury hands. It appears only on browsers that support it, and turns off when you leave the page.
Can I save a recipe?
Bookmark the page in your browser, or use the Save on Pinterest button. Ingredients you check off are remembered on your device, so you can pick up where you left off.
How do I find a recipe?
Use the search button at the top of every page, browse a category such as Dinner or Desserts, see what is ready in 30 minutes or less, or scan the full A–Z list.
Cooking and food safety
Why do recipes give internal temperatures?
Color and texture are not reliable signs that meat, poultry, fish or eggs are safe to eat. An instant-read thermometer pushed into the thickest part is. Our recipes give the safe minimum internal temperature in the step where it matters. The editorial standards list them all.
Are the nutrition facts exact?
No. They are estimates for one serving and change with the brands and exact amounts you use. Treat them as a rough guide, not as medical or dietary information.
Can I trust the allergen list?
It is a helpful starting point, not a guarantee. It lists the major allergens the ingredients commonly contain, but products differ from brand to brand. If you cook for someone with an allergy, read every label. Our disclaimer has more detail.
Can I swap an ingredient?
Many recipes suggest substitutions that suit the dish. Other swaps can work too, but they may change the texture, the cooking time or the result.
Can you advise me on a diet or a health condition?
We are not able to give medical or dietary advice. Please ask your doctor or a registered dietitian.
The website
Why are there ads?
Ads pay for the site and keep the recipes free. They are placed by our advertising partner. You can review and change how advertising uses your information with the Privacy settings link at the bottom of every page; the cookie policy explains your choices.
How do I switch to dark mode?
Use the theme button at the top of the page, or the Theme setting in the menu on phones. “Auto” follows the setting of your device.
Do you accept recipe submissions?
We do not publish recipes sent in by readers, but ideas are welcome: send us the dish you would like to see through the contact form.
Can I use your recipes or images on my own site?
You are welcome to share a link to any recipe. Republishing a recipe or an image needs our permission; see Copyright & DMCA.
